For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that you by his poverty might become rich.
2 Corinthians 8:9
Giving
Why We Give
As a people rescued and redeemed by our Saviour Jesus, the way we see and think about money has been transformed. Jesus is now our great example as the one who gave away all the riches of heaven to rescue the poor in spirit. In light of all that we have received from God's hand, the question becomes not "how much do I have to give?" but "how can I contribute to kingdom work?"
In the pages of the New Testament, we find three important principles about Christian giving which guides our understanding:
Christians are to give joyfully (2 Corinthians 9:7)
Christians are to give regularly (1 Corinthians 16:2)
Christians are to give sacrificially (2 Corinthians 8:7-9)
Our giving is to be driven not by box ticking religion, but by gratitude for the grace we have received and the urgency of the mission we have received to take the gospel to our city.
How We give
At Enoggera Baptist Church, giving through tithes and offerings is a regular part of our worship of God and contributes to the vision and mission of the church.
